The National Trust for Historic Preservation named Minute Man National Historical Park as one of “America’s 11 Most Endangered Historic Places” of 2024 due to a major expansion at Hanscom Field Airport, adjacent to Minute Man National Historical Park.
The proposed expansion at Hanscom Field includes 17 new private jet hangers and almost 50 acres of land. The Friends of Minute Man National Park are concerned that expansion and increased jet traffic by our neighbor will disrupt the visitor experience and endanger the long-term health of the park, its landscapes, and its waterways. The thunderous roar of low-flying jets often impacts educational programs throughout Minute Man National Historical Park.
The National Trust also recognizes the detrimental effect the expansion may have on other historic sites including Walden Pond and Woods, the Orchard House, the Robbins House, and nearby towns of Concord, Lexington, Lincoln, and Bedford.
Designation as one of “America’s 11 Most Endangered Historic Places” provides an opportunity for park supporters from near and far to reflect on the current threat and advocate for our treasured Minute Man National Historical Park.
You can take action and help for our park:
- Become a member of the Friends of Minute Man to support our advocacy for the park.

Thank you!
