Help Protect the Legacy of the American Revolution

A Call to Support Minute Man National Historical Park

March 4, 2025

As we approach the 250th anniversary of the beginning of the American Revolution on April 19, 1775, the Friends of Minute Man is deeply concerned about the challenges facing Minute Man National Historical Park (NHP).

More than one million people visit Minute Man NHP each year to connect with our country’s founding principles of democracy and liberty, stand at the site of the “shot heard ‘round the world” at the North Bridge, and enjoy over one-thousand acres of scenic parkland.

Minute Man NHP park rangers and staff offer exceptional visitor experiences, historically accurate Revolutionary War reenactments, and thought-provoking educational programs. They maintain a safe and clean park for thousands of visitors who walk, run, or bike along the five-mile Battle Road Trail. They also protect and preserve irreplaceable monuments, artifacts, and battlefields, all of which deepen our understanding of the American Revolution and its place in our national heritage.

As Minute Man NHP prepares for record-breaking attendance this year for the 250th anniversary of the beginning of the American Revolution in April 2025, it faces a serious challenge. The recent hiring freeze and staff impacts at the park threaten to limit visitor services and may put nationally significant cultural and natural resources at risk.

The Friends of Minute Man strongly support the park’s staff and National Park Service employees nationwide. We are actively working to assist and advocate for Minute Man NHP, but we need your help.

Please take a moment to contact your U.S. senators and representatives to express your support for Minute Man NHP and the invaluable work of the National Park Service.

Together, we can maintain the integrity and accessibility of our treasured national parks.

The Friends of Minute Man is the official non-profit partner of Minute Man National Historical Park. For over thirty years, the Friends have supported events, education, and preservation at the park. Please direct any questions to Kathleen Fahey at [email protected].

You can also assist the park by making a gift to the 250th Anniversary Patriots’ Day appeal. Thank you!
