Monument Maintenance at Minute Man
This summer, NPS conservators treated and cleaned monuments throughout Minute Man National Historical Park, including the Minute Man statue and this bronze bas-relief of Major John Buttrick, visible from Liberty Street near the Major John Buttrick House.
Conservators use soft natural-bristle brushes to gently clean the monument, then add a layer of paste wax to protect it from the elements. Regular maintenance helps preserve the Park’s sculpture and monuments for generations to come.
