We enjoyed beautiful fall foliage this year. But once the leaves fall, the raking begins!
The Park is comprised of over 1,000 acres of land across three towns, so staff and community volunteers all pitch in to help keep the Park looking great. We are very grateful for the many hours of volunteer work provided by the Massachusetts Trial Court Community Service Program.
Thankfully, leaves do not need to be removed from all areas, but it’s still a tremendous task. Mulching mowers are used to return nutrients back to the soil, but some areas require raking by hand. We also have a bounty of acorns that are gathered to feed the pigs that reside seasonally at the Noah Brook Tavern fields in partnership with Codman Farms of Lincoln, Ma.
Thanks to the NPS staff and volunteers who continue the fall clean up in November’s colder weather!
