Friends of Minute Man Welcome New Board President

The Friends of Minute Man National Park Board of Directors announces that Paul O’Shaughnessy has been appointed as the next Board President.

As Board President, Paul will oversee the strategic direction of the Friends, the official non-profit partner of Minute Man National Historical Park. The Friends of Minute Man National Park have supported historic preservation, educational events, and advocacy at the Park for over 35 years. In 2025, the Friends will play an essential role in helping the Park commemorate the 250th Anniversary of the beginning of the American Revolution.

“The team at Minute Man National Historical Park is excited to welcome Paul as the new President of the Friends. Paul’s extensive ties as a member of the Living History community, a resident of Lexington, and a longtime advocate for the Park make him an excellent choice to lead the Friends into the future. I look forward to working with Paul in his new role,” said Simone Monteleone, Superintendent of Minute Man National Historical Park.

Paul succeeds Bob Morris as President, who is retiring from the Friends of Minute Man National Park board after 14 years of leadership. His tenure is marked by significant growth in the Friends of Minute Man’s collaboration with and assistance to the Park. Bob was instrumental in several April 19, 1775 battlefield preservation projects at the Park, including the Parker’s Revenge and Elm Brook Hill battle sites.

Paul’s dedication to Revolutionary War history runs deep. He regularly participates in reenactments as a British soldier and has been an active member of His Majesty’s 10th Regiment of Foot since 1972. “I am honored to take the reins from Bob and to lead the Friends organization through the 250th Anniversary and beyond,” O’Shaughnessy said.

O’Shaughnessy has served on the Friends board for almost ten years. He also serves on the Lexington Historic District Commission and the Lexington Historical Society. An electrical engineer by training, he graduated from Cornell University’s College of Engineering.
