Passing the Torch

On November 17, 2021 Minute Man National Historical Park celebrated the retirement of former superintendent BJ Dunn and welcomed incoming park superintendent Simone Monteleone.

Our guests of honor were greeted by friends, colleagues, and traditional fife music. A short procession led to the Minute Man Visitor Center where more were gathered to offer their best wishes to BJ and welcome Simone. Reminiscences, speeches, and a slide show focused on BJ’s 30-plus years at the National Park Service.

A highlight of the evening was when four past and present Minute Man National Historical Park superintendents gathered beneath the NPS arrowhead, pictured above from left to right: Larry Gall, Nancy Nelson, BJ Dunn, and Simone Monteleone along with Kathleen Fahey and Bob Morris of the Friends of Minute Man.
